Aquatic Therapy Services
Taking advantage of the buoyancy and hydro-static pressure, 1:1 treatment is provided to improve sensory motor skills, fine and gross motor skills as well as endurance. We see a variety of diagnosis such as Developmental Delay, Hypotonia, Sensory Processing Disorders, Autism, Motor disorders, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy, Chromosomal abnormalities, Rett’s Syndrome and many more.
- Therapy in an aquatic environment allows children to learn new movements that would otherwise be too difficult to master on land. The child can practice new motor skills and generalize the skill to land -based therapy sessions.
- The water slows the child down and allows him to react and experiment with the consequences of movement.
- The hydro-static pressure of the water gives the body 360 degrees of deep pressure allowing the child's sensory system to regulate throughout the entire therapy session. This allows the child to have greater focus on gaining new skills.
- Swimming is fun and enjoyable making achieving therapy goals considerably easier!
